Prof. Dr. Elke Jäger
Prof. Dr. Elke Jäger has devoted more than three decades to advancing cancer research and improving the scientific understanding of tumour biology and immunology. She is Head of the Department of Oncology and Haematology at Krankenhaus Nordwest in Frankfurt am Main, where she has built one of the Rhine-Main region's leading oncology programmes.
Since 2009, the department has been recognised as an Oncological Centre of Excellence supported by Deutsche Krebshilfe in partnership with University Hospital Frankfurt.
A specialist in internal medicine, haematology, oncology and palliative care, Prof. Jäger is a pioneer in translational tumour immunology. She completed her habilitation in 1997 on antigen-specific immunotherapies based on individual patients' immune responses to their tumours.
The research laboratory she established at Krankenhaus Nordwest is internationally recognised for its work on personalised cancer vaccines.
Alongside her scientific work, Prof. Dr. Jäger has long promoted a holistic understanding of cancer care in the context of research and clinical practice. In collaboration with the Institute for Sports Medicine, she initiated structured exercise programmes as part of broader clinical and research activities.
Prof. Dr. Jäger holds a visiting professorship at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in the United States and serves as Chair of Interdisciplinary Oncology at Goethe University Frankfurt.

Krebsforschung Rhein-Main e.V. does not provide medical treatment directly. Medical care and clinical treatment are carried out exclusively by qualified medical institutions.
The work of the association is supported by national and international funding bodies, foundations and private donors committed to advancing scientific research and its translation into clinical applications.
